I began working with Ms. Virginia when I moved back to the area after completing graduate school in New York. I started ballet when I was three years old and performed in some capacity well into adulthood. However, the dedication that I needed for graduate school didn’t allow me to engage in dance at a high and consistent level. When I walked into Ms. Virginia’s studio I was welcomed into a naturing and productive dance environment. Reflecting on my experience, I realize that in short order, Ms. Virginia had determined my strenghts and weakness. During class she methodically built on my strenghts, corrected my dance idiosyncrasies and prepared me for a part in her beloved truncated version of the nutcracker. After while, I retired from dance and began to focus on my career and marriage. Years of sitting in front of the computer had affected my body in suttle ways. Middle age, divorce and COVID happened for me at the sametime. In the midst of it all I wanted to reclaim a part if myself that I missed. I found it in Ms. Virginia’s studio. Dance has become the best therapy. My physical therapist has been so impressed by her insights. I am physically and mentally stronger. I am sure that I would have enjoyed getting back to dance however it happened. But in addition, I am getting deep understanding of how my body works. I am preparing for a second career in dance. In Ms Virginia’s class her knowledge of Vaganova and experience on the stage is passed to her students indivudually, in an effective, naturing and thoughtful way. One leaves her studio encouraged and with clear understanding of the work needed. I highly recommend Ms. Virginia’s private lessons for dancers older, new and in between. With her insights you will grow, whatever that means to you.

I have known Virginia Britton as a teacher, director, and friend for more years than I can count. She is an encyclopedia of Ballet who is generous in imparting her knowledge and experience to students. Virginia is one of those rare dancers that knows the original Vaganova style. She is patient, meticulous, with an eye for detail, epaulement, and alignment like no other. Many of her pupils have gone on to successful dance careers. She has helped others to benefit from and appreciate the art. Virginia’s experience, caring, and humor make her an effective coach that is guaranteed to improve your Ballet skills.

Virginia Britton is my first and favorite ballet teacher. Her understanding and application of ballet technique is impressive.
She has an almost magical ability to bring out the best in every dancer. Part of it is the solid training.
She will get you in shape fast. But it’s also the loving dedication she puts into each of her students.
She’s wickedly funny wonderfully creative and a true artist

Virgina is a kind, skilled dance teacher. I danced with her for four years while I was in the Washington DC area. I had previously danced in high school and college and was impressed by the high calibre of training while working with her. Since that time, I’ve recommended her to my friends who wanted to start dancing as adults because I trust her to train foundational skills such as placement that will keep both new and experienced dancers safe.
I highly recommend Virginia to anyone who wants that extra bit of coaching–whether you’re an aspiring professional dancer who wants some one-on-one guidance to focus on specific aspects, a young dancer looking to gain strength and artistic experience, or an adult dancer who loves ballet and is finally acting on the desire to experience it yourself. Virginia will make you sweat, improve, and gain confidence in yourself–but she’ll also make you smile and appreciate the joy found in ballet.
