Joyful first steps in ballet

Pre-ballet students learn in a gentle, imaginative studio setting where musicality, classroom manners, and graceful movement are introduced with care.

A nine-month course for children

I am proud to offer this nine month course for children. Increasing in difficulty yearly, it is designed to introduce students to more than the traditional beginning techniques of classical ballet and modern dance.

Children are trained in the elements of choreography and each class allows the children to create based on those elements. They soon confidently become original choreographers, learning physical and artistic lessons that encourage brain development and artistic skills.

Along with the creative movement lessons is the use of music from historical and modern classical eras. Ballet music and non-ballet music are used, leading to an exposure to and enjoyment of music.

The characters in the ballets are also used, along with traditional music and stories, to teach children to understand character, try their own interpretations, and become confident with inventing movement.

At the end of the course, in-studio class demonstrations for Parents Day show off the knowledge gained by the child in a familiar and safe environment. Minimal costuming based on the classroom uniform enhances the demonstrations.

Experience the beauty, discipline, and joy of dance — your journey to grace and poise begins here!
